Right after my 7th year wedding anniversary, I had a brief affair with a colleague of mine at my place of work. It was not intentional, but I was feeling old, unattractive, unhappy and wanted to get back at my husband. I just wanted someone to make me feel better about myself and to help shore up my self-esteem. However, I discovered it was not the solution. So I ended the affair quickly and I have to admit that I was glad when it was over. Does this kind of thing happen to many people?

Many married women experience such a thing, but the method you chose to deal with it could have destroyed your marriage. Self-doubt, unforgiveness, and the fear of getting older are strong feelings. Nevertheless, the sense of betrayal your spouse would feel, if he found out about your affair would most likely be stronger and can lead to a catastrophe. I hope you are mindful of the fact that your children‘s lives are at stake.
